​I experienced Maynard’s leadership first hand working with him on one of his teams in the oil sands. Maynard’s style of leading teams will bring out the best in people. At that time I wanted nothing to do with leading a team. Maynard’s encouragement and support convinced me to take on roles I would have never considered. Fast forward 10 years and 2 promotions I’m now the general foreman of a highly successful mine maintenance department that other peer sites strive to replicate! At the time when I embarked on this journey working in leadership, Maynard’s words on day one of that journey were “you’re going to make a great leader, make sure you have some fun with it!” Since then my career took a very different path than I expected and I have enjoyed great success, it truly has been fun, even the rough days!
